St. Luke's is a member parish of the Anglican Network in Canada (ANiC) under the authority and care of the Bishop Moderator of the Network.   ANiC is a member of the Anglican Church in North America (ACiNA)and is in fellowship with millions of faithful Anglicans around the world, particularly those who have joined the international Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans.  We see ourselves as privileged to be one part of the universal Christian Church made up of people of many denominations under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

St. Luke's was officially and joyfully recognized and welcomed as a parish at our second Sunday service on November 23, 2008 by the Right Reverend Donald Harvey, Bishop Moderator of the Anglican Network in Canada.

For the first 11 months of our existence we met in the Pembroke Seventh Day Adventist Church.  In August of 2009 we purchased the Pembroke Catering Hall on 307 Julien Street in Pembroke.  After a couple of months filled with hundreds of volunteer hours we had a Grand Opening of our new location on the weekend of October 17-18 2009.

We gladly affirm the historic biblical Christian faith set forth in the ancient Christian statements of faith (e.g. the Apostles' and Nicene Creeds).  This faith is attested to in the foundational documents of Anglicanism (e.g. the Book of Common Prayer).

Our core beliefs are shared with millions of Anglicans and other Christians around the world, and have been summarized in The Jerusalem Declaration of 2008, to which ANiC has subscribed.  Some of these central and life-changing truths include:

  • the supreme authority of the Bible in all matters of faith and morality
  • the Trinity: One God in Three Persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit)
  • the full humanity and divinity of Jesus Christ, the only Saviour and Lord
  • salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and His death and resurrection for us
  • the presence and power of the Holy Spirit for all who believe in Christ
  • the second coming of Christ and the reality of eternal life for all those redeemed by Jesus

St. Luke’s is still a young church, but we are grateful for all the programs already underway, and we look forward to expanding these ministries, and developing new ones, as the Holy Spirit guides us.

We see our primary 'mission field' as Pembroke/Petawawa and the Upper Ottawa Valley.  We also seek to serve God by serving others and bearing witness for Christ through involvement in and support of mission work across Canada and around the world.  We look for opportunities as appropriate to work together with other churches and ministries locally and abroad.
